Michael Kastner was raised in Cheyenne,Wyoming and had the opportunity to live in other parts of the Great State of Wyoming.
He also lived in Laramie, Casper, Pinedale, Rawlins, Jackson and Torrington Wyoming. Later moved to Scottsbluff Nebraska were he bacame a "Wyobrascan"
His life has been filled with some very exciting and fun filled events that he will share with us.
Michael was born at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in North Chicago Illinois. His Mother was a Journalist in the United States Navy.
Shortly after his birth, two weeks to be exact. He and his mother returned to Cheyenne, Wyoming where this fun filled story begins....

My life in the United States Marine Corps





I was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1970. I served overseas and graduated from the United States Navy Diving School on Guam. The Navy Chief Petty Oficers had there way with us and sometimes I think the Navy Diving School,was at times, was alot harder then Marine Coprs Bootcamp... OOORUAHH !!!!!
Being stationed on Guam would later lead to some of my physical problem in life...

True life stories in the Hood

I grew up on the south side of Cheyenne in what was call "Black Addition" Named after Tom Black senior who built FHA homes. I lived at 708 West Jefferson. My neighborhood was a multi-cultural mix of different people.
Spanish, Mexican, Greek, Japanese,Chinese, Korean, African American, Dutch, and many other ethnic groups.

My current battle with ALS

On July 27th 2010 I was diagnosed with ALS I will keep you posted on my progress...

Update Saturday August 14 2010.... The first signs of my ALS starter around 3 years ago. I started to notice some muscle twitching in my arms. At first I thought it was just something that would come and go. A year later I had my first EMG test at the VA hospital in Albquerque New Mexico. The results came back normal,at that point and the also took a blood test and it came back nornal also... A year later the twitching had become worse and so I had a seconf EMG. I had a total of 4 EMG test befor the gave me the news that I had ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.. Well such is life and now the work begins!!!
